ABSTRACT

As the preceding chapters make clear, the delivery of culturally competent assessment services requires careful attention to many issues. In this chapter, I develop an assessment practice model and lay out guidelines (Table 4.1) for the consideration of language skills, cultural competencies (attitudes, knowledge, and clinical and research skills), cultural and racial identity, standard and emic instruments, DSM-IV diagnosis (cultural formulations), test-specific interpretation recommendations, reports, and feedback of assessment findings.
