ABSTRACT

In much of science and life, we often are trying to understand the underlying truth in a morass of observable reality. Herbert Simon (1969) states that we are attempting to find the basic simplicity in the overt complexity of life. Margaret Wheatley (1994), a social scientist working with organizations, suggests that we are seeking to uncover the latent order in a system while also recognizing that “It is hard to open ourselves to a world of inherent orderliness . . . trusting in the unfolding dance of order” (1994, p. 23). I would like to argue that the search for simplicity and latent order could be made much more attainable when approached with a mindset of multivariate thinking.
