ABSTRACT
At the time, Rod and I were engaged in a spirited (to put it mildly) debate on factor inde-
terminacy, and it was with some trepidation that I sent him a letter asking if I could acquire the
software he had produced. Rod responded quickly and graciously with the requested
materials, which saved me a substantial amount of time producing a Monte Carlo study
I was working on (Steiger, 1980b). This is only one of the ways that my work (like that of
countless others) has been influenced positively by interactions with Rod over the years.
