Mini-lessons at all levels of instruction consist of a brief, single-topic presentation; student-generated examples; and immediate practice. The frequency of mini-lessons, types of groupings, presentation format, and practice applications vary from classroom to classroom depending on the age, experience, and skill levels of individual students. Mini-lessons are developed in response to observations of children’s speaking, listening, reading, and writing performances and usematerials currently being studied for examples and skill practice.
