ABSTRACT

Now you have a viewer's perspective. As the producer of a newscast you will spend eight to ten hours intensely preparing for one hour or half-hour of the day—the time your show is on the air. And during that hour or half-hour your attention will be focused like a laser beam on what's on the air now, and what's coming up next. Compare that experience with what your viewers are doing at the same time. Think about how you watch television, news specifically, when you’re at home. Are you sitting up straight, feet together, hands in lap, intently focused on every word and picture coming out of the box? Of course not! And keep in mind you’re more interested in the news than most viewers.
