ABSTRACT

This chapter includes statistical tests that are used for a design with one independent variable (factor) that has two or more levels, where all participants are in one and only one condition (between groups). The single-factor design includes studies using the quantitative approaches of randomized experimental, quasi-experimental, and comparative. It is important to remember that the appropriate statistical test is the same for each of these quantitative approaches, but interpretation of cause and effect will vary as discussed in chapters 11–17.
