ABSTRACT

Once your contract is secure, you can finally begin actual work on the project. Don’t go too fast, though. Although the proposal and contract outline in general how you should proceed, you still need a thorough action plan or strategy. This entails carefully diagnosing the problem you were brought in to deal with and determining what data need to be collected to ensure that the problem is thoroughly investigated. As discussed in the “From the Expert …” section in this chapter, data collection begins at the beginning of a project, the moment you talk with a client or prospective client about a potential project.
