ABSTRACT
The most common methods involve isolating total cellular DNA, which is suitable for most forensic DNA analysis. DNA isolation methods can differ in many respects because the biochemical compositions of tissues vary. Many specific DNA isolation procedures for any sample of interest may be found in the literature. Nevertheless, certain basic principles, reagents, and isolation procedures apply to various types of samples. The most common DNA extraction protocols include certain components discussed below.
