The VHX-1000 uses a 17-inch LCD monitor to view the objects on the microscope stage. Amazingly, it has a camera that can image up to 54 megapixels. The high-resolution optics available for the VHX-1000 have a magnification range from 1 to 5,000. The optics are interchangeable, allowing for one system to be used for imaging insects, identifying them for the purpose of PMI (postmortem interval); fingerprints (to look at individual pore configuration as well as the friction ridges); and exceedingly small particulates (chemicals and compounds).
