ABSTRACT

A search of the crime scene reveals the presence of bloodstain patterns, two questionable footwear prints, evidence that the victim was shot numerous times in the head and body, 12 discharged (spent) cartridge casings, and one 0.45-caliber automatic Smith and Wesson pistol several feet away from the body. The pistol still had four live 0.45-caliber rounds: three in its magazine and one in its chamber. The collected firearm and spent cartridge casings were sent to the ballistics unit for examination. A picture of each of the 12 spent casings found by CSU personnel, in their order of acquisition, is shown in images CSU-1 to CSU-12.
