ABSTRACT

A successful Lean implementation is foundational for the gains to be sustained in the future. ‘ere are some key success factors and possible failure points that one needs to be aware of.

1. Before beginning an implementation, an assessment of the number and complexity of improvement initiatives planned for the location needs to be accomplished. Known as an energy grid, it is vital that an assessment be made of the amount of change staff and physicians are going to have to deal with during the implementation. If there are already a number of change initiatives happening, it will make success more difficult to achieve and will result in less than desired outcomes.
