ABSTRACT

At any rate, the more intelligence built into the flowchart, the greater its usefulness. By intelligence, I mean the use of symbols to represent what actually takes place in the work. Most users of flowcharts tend to rely on very few symbols and, thus, limit the tools usefulness. (It’s not the number or variety of symbols per se that makes the flow chart useful, it’s whether you are using enough symbols to help you recognize where waste, delays, rework, etc. occur in a process).
