ABSTRACT
In 1989, an award-winning scientist was charged with falsifying laboratory reports to reflect that laboratory tests that were never performed had been performed. He was also charged with basing his research findings on those phony tests.1 This conduct was clearly a breach of ethical duties. Unfortunately, not all such breaches are this obvious.
