ABSTRACT

The parties to a contract include the promisor, or obligor, and the promisee, or the obligee. A party to a contract may be an individual, a partnership, a corporation, or a government. A party to a contract may be an agent acting on behalf of another person. There may be one or more persons on each side of the contract. In some cases, there may be three-sided contracts, such as a managed care agreement between provider, payer, and patient, or in the case of an employment arrangement, that of hospital, established practice, and new physician. Along with the original parties to the contract, other persons may have rights or duties with respect to it.
