ABSTRACT

The first time I heard this story was when I was an adolescent. My father had just returned from a meeting of the Wolves Club, an Italian service organization that owes its name to the myth of Romulus and Remus, the legendary founders of Rome. Among other activities, this organization is noted for supporting disadvantaged youths in their pursuit of higher education. Similar to other organizations, a noted professional in the area would be invited to present a brief talk. The speaker that evening told this rather amusing and poignant story as an introduction to his talk. My brothers, sister, and I listened as our father laughed incessantly along the way to the punch line.
