ABSTRACT
Although we often talk of ‘the courts’ as if to imply a uniform and precise group, this is not always the case. The courts comprise a hierarchy, within which each court has a separate jurisdiction regulating its powers, type of business and personnel. The hierarchy of the courts is best explained by way of a diagram.
