ABSTRACT
A caution should be administered by a uniformed police officer and at a police station if practicable. The officer should normally be of the rank of inspector or above, although designated ‘cautioning officers’ may be appointed where appropriate and this may include using a sergeant instead of an inspector or community or home beat officers.
