ABSTRACT
The European Court of Justice (ECJ) sprang to life out of the joining together of a number of Nation States creating a new limited political and legal order. With the exception of the United Kingdom, the legal system of all the Member States is a code deriving its structure from Roman law and referred to as civil law or the civil code.
