ABSTRACT
This chapter will examine the law in relation to domestic and captive animals and the measures in place to protect them from cruelty. Domestic and captive animals have a high degree of protection in the UK. However, cases of cruelty to animals are reported each year. The chapter will consider the measures that have been passed in the UK to protect these animals, assessing whether they are adequate and what, if any, reforms are needed.
