GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF COMMITTEES OF THE JAMAICAN PARLIAMENT

The Standing Orders of the House of Representatives makes provision for the appointment of Sessional Select Committees which last for an entire Session and Special Select Committees which may or may not last for the entire Session. The functions of Sessional Select Committees are specified in the Standing Orders while the Special Select Committees are given their terms of reference by the House on appointment.
