ABSTRACT

The last chapter looked at the stages in the mediation process and its variations, as practised by community mediators when they are assigned to a particular case. This chapter will look at the different models for delivering mediation, that is, the organisational structure which lies behind the mediation process. There is considerable variation between mediation services, depending on factors such as history, philosophy, funding and the nature of the area where the service is located. These different models are also changing as mediation becomes more established as a mainstream option in the UK.
