ABSTRACT

F v Kent County Council (1993) The mother of four children who were subject to care orders made application to discharge the orders, but was unsuccessful. The father later applied for a variation of contact. Evidence given suggested that the father was kind and considerate and had behaved well towards the children during periods of contact. Contact, in this case, seemed to be of benefit to the children. The magistrates decided to give effect to the contact agreement between mother and father, but considered, additionally, that no further application concerning contact or the discharge of the care order was to be made without the leave of the court. The magistrates mentioned the likelihood of a disturbing effect on the children of further court proceedings. Father and guardian appealed.
