ABSTRACT

When you are busy and your services are in demand and there is plenty of work about, you may be able to afford to quote the firm’s list price rates and may be surprised and gladdened to have them accepted. More likely, you will see your prospective clients as well as some of your established clients shopping around for a lower figure. You may pride yourself on the work you do and the service you provide and so you may refuse, even at the cost of losing some clients, of doing quality work at cut-price rates. ‘I refuse to do cut-price work! There are standards to be maintained after all!’ You may be galled to see your old clients frequenting new and cut-price firms who are ‘just buying work in’ whilst you find previously unknown time for polishing up your checklists and reviewing your precedents.
