ABSTRACT

Long bill narratives may signify case planning in reverse. It is often only then, after the work has been done and the client reads through the long bill narrative, that the client begins to understand what work has actually been done, what the case was all about and the stages it went through. It can come as a shock to the client who often thinks that his case is straightforward and who protests, justifiably on the facts, that, ‘I never asked you to do all that so why should I pay for it?’
