ABSTRACT
Diabetes is a systemic disorder characterised by abnormal sugar metabolism. One of the most significant complications of the disorder is diabetic retinopathy, though diabetes may also cause or accelerate the onset of cataract and have effects on nerve tissue in the eye (diabetic ocular neuropathy).
