Cases in which there is no apparent offer and acceptance

It is not always easy to analyse the formation of a contract into terms of offer and acceptance. For example, it is quite common in certain types of contract such as building, engineering and civil engineering, for the work which is to be done under the contract to be started (and sometimes even finished!) before the terms of a contract are agreed.
