ABSTRACT

Section 101 gives the hirer, under a regulated consumer hire agreement, the right to terminate the agreement after 18 months, on giving notice. Where payments are at equal intervals, the length of the notice is of an interval between payments or three months, whichever is the less. Where they are at differing intervals, notice is the length of the shortest interval or three months, whichever is the less. In all other cases, the period is three months. There are exceptions to this right of the hirer to terminate, chiefly in relation to hire for business purposes.
