ABSTRACT

If you press the Thesaurus button on your computer and ask it for a synonym for ‘stress’, your machine will probably suggest ‘pressure, strain, anxiety, constant worry, tension, nervous trauma, hassle’. Anybody who has experienced even the mildest marital disagreement has a first-hand knowledge of stress in all its forms. This is not a book about stress management, but a book about marital breakdown without some reference to the accompanying stress would be like a book on cake making without any oven temperatures.
