ABSTRACT

Beware of terms in your holiday contract that allow the tour operator to change the price. If they do wish to do so, find out why. Tour operators can only change the price if their contract allows for prices to be revised both ways, that is, they can go down as well as up. Even then, the price can only be changed for certain reasons-such as a change in transport costs or taxes. This means that a price rise due to an increase in airport taxes or fuel would be allowable, whilst a change to cover increased hotel costs would not. In any event, the price cannot be changed during the month before departure, nor for small variations in cost.
