ABSTRACT
A reasonably straightforward essay question which is quite often set on PACE 1984. It is important to take the provisions of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (CJPOA) 1994 into account and to bear in mind the changes consequent to Code C. It should be noted that it is only concerned with the interviewing scheme and its applicability inside the police station. It is not concerned therefore with safeguards concerning, for example, stop and search. It is important to take the HRA into account in your answer, since it provides new possibilities of creating redress in relation to safeguards for police interviews.
