ABSTRACT
This chapter, which considers and analyses the Human Rights Act and certain early, very significant decisions taken under it, is intended to provide a framework for the discussion of the impact of the Act, which pervades the whole book. The discussion will cover the central aspects of the Act, but will then go on to examine more closely a number of the areas in which the Human Rights Act is ambiguous and uncertain.
