ABSTRACT
Research has shown that restorative justice has proved to be more effective than the criminal justice systems in improving satisfaction for both victims and offenders, securing offender compliance with restitution orders and decreasing recidivism. If that is the case, then for the purposes of the Caribbean region, perhaps victim-offender mediation programmes could also be used as a powerful tool for the societal control of crime.
