ABSTRACT

This chapter has examined a number of initiatives which could impact significantly on how societies may expand the field of non-adversarial dispute resolution. Also, these initiatives could have beneficial effect on society’s efforts to control crime and minimise the consequences of crime. In a region which is afflicted with increasing levels of crime, it is hoped that lawmakers, leaders of thought and designers of public policy may be persuaded that the potential gains in trying out these initiatives far outweigh the potential risks of doing nothing.
