ABSTRACT
The Aegean Sea forms part of the Mediterranean Sea; a subdivision of its Eastern Basin. The maritime areas of the Aegean amount to 101.321 sq nautical miles. (187.647 sq kilometers). The mean depth of the Aegean is 346 meters. It covers approximately one tenth of the total area of the Mediterranean.
