Past, present and future directions book
The prime purpose of this book has been to bring together diverse information on many topics that constitute (or are closely connected with) car crime in order to provide a sound basis for further exploration. In so doing, the term ‘car crime’, which has been traditionally constructed to reflect the dominant discourse of ‘theft of and from vehicles’, has been extended to encompass behaviours not usually considered within its ambit. Incidence and trends of key kinds of car crime have been mapped as far as known and inadequacies in how some offences are measured have been noted. Explanations and theories put forward by others to account for the occurrence of some kinds of car crime have been discussed, and recent means for their control have been assessed.
