ABSTRACT

In this book, people are described as sex workers if they are known to have some involvement in sex work, either selling sex directly or in some other role, for example as a receptionist at indoor premises. The broader sex industry includes exotic dancing, clipping 1 establishments, pornography and telephone sex services, but although these branches of the industry may involve risks for violence, they are not explored in this book, with the exception of two homicide cases where the victims were a clip-joint hostess and a lap-dancer, which are included in Chapter 13.
