ABSTRACT
Urbanization, per se, is not a problem – it brings benefits, but these are not equally distributed and the rapid growth of urban centres is accompanied by serious problems. However, the economic, social and cultural environments in an urban centre obviously do bring benefits, hope and opportunities – even for the poor.
