ABSTRACT
What would it cost to meet the Millennium Development Goal for water and sanitation? Answering this question requires analysis at two levels: global and national. Global-level estimates are helpful in giving a sense of the magnitude of what is required. Global estimates are also useful for advocacy purposes, as comparisons between what would be required to meet the global water and sanitation goal and what the world as a whole is currently spending its money on can be effectively jarring.
