ABSTRACT
We humans project onto dolphins our own dreams and desires. However it remains a moot point why dolphins are such splendid bearers of our fantasies. Such is the quest of this chapter, exploring the putative characteristics of dolphins as they are enmeshed in our cultural nets of meaning.
