ABSTRACT
This book challenges that formula. It questions whether economic growth is still a legitimate goal for rich countries, when huge disparities in income and well-being persist across the globe and when the global economy is constrained by finite ecological limits. It explores whether the benefits of continued economic growth still outweigh the costs and scrutinizes the assumption that growth is essential for prosperity. In short, it asks: is it possible to have prosperity without growth?
