ABSTRACT

Most of the strategies adopted so far to induce countries to move towards an energetically-sustainable future have been based on technical solutions, such as energy efficiency (which can be seen as an ‘amplifier’ of the existing fossil fuel reserves, which are limited) and a transition to the use of renewable energy sources that may, in time, replace fossil fuels. However, a strategy that has been less studied is the change in consumption patterns and lifestyles, which could be a lot less energy-intensive than those now predominant.
