ABSTRACT

An introduction to Part III is presented. In addition to the more traditional bottom—up approach, a new approach towards managing health and comfort in the indoor environment is introduced (see Chapter 8), with a focus on individual interactions (see Chapter 9) during the whole building life cycle. There appears to be a discrepancy between current standards and end users’ needs. Combined with new ‘drivers’, new insights and changing end-user requirements, the need for a different approach towards managing the indoor environment is justified.
