ABSTRACT

Energy technologies based on renewable sources have seen rapid change in recent years, especially in terms of the scale of implementation and the public and commercial attitude to their use. Indeed, it is now widely accepted that renewable energy technologies have a major part to play in our future energy generation, not least because of the environmental imperative to move away from conventional fossil fuel-based energy sources. There is an immediate potential for the exploitation of renewable energy technologies such as wind and biomass and a very large potential for the use of solar and marine technologies in the next few years and into the future.
