ABSTRACT

A central aim of this book is to facilitate inclusive, global-scale forest dialogue. However, in order to balance the breadth and depth of the analysis, it was necessary to select a subset of the world’s 192 countries. The sampling methodology chosen was to focus on those countries of greatest global and regional significance in terms of forest extent and forest trade. Thus, we primarily sampled countries with:

the greatest forest area and/or

the greatest import/export value of forest trade in each of the world’s major forested regions.
