ABSTRACT

For most organizations, much of their carbon footprint is in their supply chain rather than within the factory fence/office walls. For example, for Canon products, the supply chain represents 47 per cent of lifecycle carbon emissions, or 66 per cent of emissions from ‘cradle to gate’. 1 In the UK’s National Health Service (the third largest organization in the world), the supply chain accounts for 59 per cent of carbon emissions, predominantly due to pharmaceutical production. 2
