ABSTRACT
The goal of evaluation is to provide guidance for the future by understanding the past. In this chapter, we outline a method for designing future public participation efforts, applying lessons discussed throughout this book. Because public participation is an art as well as a science, we draw on our informal insights as well as our formal results. We intend for this chapter to be helpful to project planners, both inside and outside of government, who are responsible for designing an effective public participation effort.
