ABSTRACT

A decision is a choice among alternative courses of action (or options) made to meet an overall objective. Decisions that involve the safety of complicated equipment rarely involve a single consideration. In other words, a decisionmaker (DM) will mull over several questions about improving safety: What is the cost to the project? What is the sacrifice in reliability and performance? What will be the schedule delay if I choose to implement this safety improvement? These are just a few examples.
