ABSTRACT
To determine whether behavior of men in the field conforms to the requirements of preformed decisions promulgated by organization leaders, the leaders must obviously keep themselves informed about what actually goes on in the field. The easiest way for them to do so is to ask the field men what they are doing. Hence, reporting is a common characteristic of all large-scale organizations.
