ABSTRACT

Recruiting is a key element of the overall human resource provisioning or employment process. Therefore, a recruitment strategy must be developed. A recruitment strategy must consider the type of recruiter to be used, where to recruit, and what sources and methods of recruitment will be used. The purpose of selection is to hire employees most likely to meet the organization’s standards of performance and develop them on the job. A set of reasonable criteria should be established before predictions can be made. The selection procedure includes the preliminary screening interview, completion of the applicant blank, psychometric tests, the selection interview, reference checks, and physical examinations. Valid, reliable, and fair predictors must be used. An audit of the selection process is necessary to ensure that it produces the results expected.
