ABSTRACT

Family burden is a term often used in everyday life. People will say so-and-so has a heavier family burden than others; it is clear that the emphasis is on the word “family,” a specific family, and the person who causes the heavy family burden is often a family member or close relative. The economic burden is the pressure brought on the family by family members’ consumption behavior; it includes not only daily items such as food and utilities but also non-daily ones such as home purchase, treatment of illness, and children’s education. The mental burden is the pressure, confusion, and depression brought on the family when the family experiences difficulties. The dependency ratio is a very simple and practical indicator that measures whether the population of a country or region is amenable to social and economic development.
